Collaborating with scholar and artist Mita Mahato (These Frames Are Hiding Places) on this blog post about the Laydeez do Toronto event we attended after the Comics & Medicine conference has been a complete pleasure. So much so that we both are sad to see it draw to an end, but inspired for future collaborations. Mita did the wonderful paper cut outs for the clothing and I did the surrounding drawings, on graph paper, colored with my new favorite markers (via Jeffrey Brown). The above image is Laydeez co-founder Sarah Lightman discussing her work. Isn’t the clothing amazing? And the necklace & bracelet?! Mita is a genius, armed with an xacto knife.
