This is a piece I’m still working on – here scanned and colorized on the computer. When I was visiting her a few weeks ago, my three-year-old niece told me she wants a painting of “me and the stars and a giraffe.”
I started on it, then on Easter she added requests for an elephant, a lion and the moon. “Oh, and you too,” she said.
Around the same time, she started talking about being scared of monsters when she goes to bed at night. So I painted what she asked for in the hope that it can hang over her bed and help when the monsters loom. That’s her dog Foxy wondering what’s going on. I figure she’ll ask for her to be in the painting soon.
MK, you took this one and ran with it huh? Seriously, I think she might appreciate it (someday). Funny how a three year old’s thoughts look on paper. How could you not love that kid?
