I’ve been a big fan of Ivan Brunetti’s Cartooning: Philosophy & Practice since my pal Ian convinced me to take it seriously. (“I don’t believe in how-to books for comic making” was my position before reading this one.) Since then pals Mita, Sarah, and I worked our way though the entire fifteen week course, posting our homework on a private blog.
Brunetti continues to inspire me as a teacher. I’ve been re-reading this article, “Nothing Good Can Come Out of Dishonesty” about teaching comics, and through it, ran across this great comic, which appeared in The New Yorker. I don’t feel this way yet, but it’s still early in my comic-teaching career…
