Leaving Saturday AM for Toronto and couldn’t be more excited. This is the fourth Comics & Medicine conference, and each has gained momentum, friends, presenters, and community. For those of you who may not recall, the first conference was in London, organized by Ian Williams, in 2010. I had recently graduated from my MA program, and the conference has helped steer my career since. Northwestern sponsored the conference here in Chicago last summer, and we had a one-day conference in Leeds in November. This year the amazing Shelley Wall will host us at the University of Toronto Medical School.
I have the honor of again presenting with Michael Green, MD. We will be discussing using drawing/making comics as a learning methodology in academic settings with adult learners (non-art related college courses, medical schools, etc.)
It is our hope to record as much of the conference as possible so sessions (with images) can be posted as Graphic Medicine podcasts.
