This week I started graduate school – or as the character Duncan in The World According To Garp calls it, “gradual school.”
The program is a three-year MA called Medical Humanities and Bioethics. The degree is awarded by the Graduate School, but, as far as I understand it, the program is part of the Medical School. Most of my fifteen fellow first-year students are in NW medical school. The rest of us are called the “freestanding professionals” – a lawyer, a doctor, an anthropologist and (me) a nurse.
